Bio & Resume

Praised for an accessible style pairing absurdism with a wide-eyed, aw-shucks demeanor, 2013 was a big year for New York City-based comedian Joe Zimmerman. In addition to making his Comedy Central debut on John Oliver’s New York Stand Up Show, he made his late night debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and was chosen as one of the acclaimed New Faces at Just For Laughs Montreal. Buzzfeed named him a top comic to watch, saying, “The combination of Joe’s calming vocalization and inventive writing is a thing of magic. You’d be hard pressed to find a more enjoyable show.”

In January of 2014 his debut album “Smiling at Wolves” reached number two on the iTunes charts, and in March he recorded his Comedy Central Half Hour Special in Boston, which airs in the summer.

Joe grew up in Morgantown, West Virginia; began doing comedy in North Carolina after graduating Davidson College; and is an an original member of the Beards of Comedy, who toured from 2008-2012 as one of the most highly requested tours in the Southeast.

“Great comic alert! Great writing and timing, and in your town soon—see the future!” – Maria Bamford

“Avoided many of the clichéd mannerisms and styles of the contemporary stand-up world without coming across as arrogant, smug, or snarky.” – Charleston City Paper

“An approach to comedy that, I believe, is welcoming to all (well, mostly all as long as you like your comedy leaning on the smarter side of the fence).” – The Comedy Bureau
